7 held at Mapusa for group clash, burning 3 scooters

PORVORIM: A petty quarrel between two groups triggered a fight resulting in the burning of three scooters at Morod, Mapusa on Wednesday midnight.
According to Mapusa Police, they received a call informing that two groups, armed with knives and choppers, were fighting with each other at Morod. By the time they reached the spot, the miscreants had fled, leaving behind three burning scooters.
Police immediately contacted the Mapusa fire station, which sent personnel with a fire tender to extinguish the fire. Police have also recovered a chopper and a sword at the site.
After investigations and obtaining information from eyewitnesses, Mapusa police registered a complaint under Sections 143, 147, 148, 160, 435, and 427 of IPC and Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act.
In the evening, police arrested seven persons: Siddhu Virdiker, Vilas Chandgadkar, Ashish Goltekar, Parimal Pandit, Sunny Mithdra, Nikhil Malli and Shubham Betgiri. They will be produced before the Judicial Magistrate First Class on Thursday. PSI Arun Andrew is investigating.
