9 Pune natives held for outraging minor’s modesty

Mapusa: Calangute on Wednesday arrested nine Pune natives for allegedly rioting, assaulting a minor boy and for outraging the modesty of a minor girl at Baga Beach.

According to Calangute police, the family of the minor victims were sitting at a shack on Baga beach and the two minor victims were moving around on the beach when 11 persons who were on visit to Baga started taking pictures of the minor girl with the intention of outraging her modesty. 

When minor brother of the victim girl questioned them about the pictures, the 11 persons allegedly started assaulting the minor with first blows and slaps.

The family of the victim's immediately lodged a compliant at the Calangute police station. Acting on the complaint, Calangute police immediately rushed to the spot and arrested the accused persons namely Ramesh Kamble, Sanket Bhadale, Krishna Patil, Satyam Lambe, Aniket Gurav, Rushikesh Gurav, Akash Suvaskar, Sunny More and Ishwar Pangare all natives of Pune, Maharashtra.

The accused  are booked under Section 143, 147. 323. 254 R/W 149 IPC and Section 8 of Goa Childrens Act. Two out of nine accused were minor amd are lodged in Apna ghar, Merces. Police have also recorded statement of the minor victim girl and boy in the presence of NGO and recovered the mobile phone used to take the pictures of the girl. The mobile phone will be forwarded to Forensic Laboratory for analysis.
