PANJIM: After days of increasing COVID-19 cases in the State, Goa on Friday reported nine recoveries and two new positive cases. This takes the total tally of novel coronavirus cases to 54, with 16 recoveries and 38 active cases.

Health Secretary Nila Mohanan said that the new cases are of a lady and a man, who arrived from Mumbai by their own vehicles separately. Besides this, three more persons have tested positive on the TrueNAT screening and their confirmatory tests are awaited.

The nine recoveries include the family of five and their driver, who drove from Mumbai.

Mohanan said that the nine persons who have recovered have been sent to institutional quarantine. “They will remain in institutional quarantine for seven days and later will have to undergo 7 or 14 days home quarantine,” she said.

Asked about the SOP to be followed for air passengers who would arrive after Monday, when domestic airlines begin operations, the Health Secretary said that the State is still awaiting the guidelines from Centre.

As per the health bulletin, there are 873 persons quarantined at various residencies and hotels. At present seven patients are in isolation wards and 38 at the Covid hospital, Margao.

On Friday, 503 samples were sent for testing, and 515 were received, including pending reports of Thursday and 27 reports are awaited.
