PANJIM: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Saturday accused the BJP of indulging into manipulation of the election process to win polls and grab power.

In a press statement, AAP Goa convener Rahul Mhambre said the BJP has been winning elections not because of people’s mandate but because of the manipulations they indulge in and grab power by purchasing elected representatives of other parties.

He said despite the voices of discontent against the BJP particularly due to the three linear projects in Goa the BJP claimed victory at the recently held Zilla Panchayat elections only because of the manipulations it indulged in while creating constituencies.

Mhambre said the BJP is trying the same tricks again at the municipal elections. “There have been so many complaints of irregular reservation aimed to benefit the ruling sections,” he said.

He said the people of Goa have now realised the machinations of the BJP and are determined to give this “jumla” party a befitting response at all future elections starting with the municipal polls.

Meanwhile, AAP leader Adv Prasad Shahapurkar at a press conference demanded that police immediately register FIR against the contractor constructing the National Highway No 66 in Pernem for committing a cognisable offence.
