PANJIM: Aam Aadmi Party’s Benaulim Zilla Panchayat member Hanzel Fernandes on Monday distributed fogging machines to all the village panchayats coming under his constituency jurisdiction.
During the monsoon, there is a rise in concern over the increasing number of cases of malaria and dengue in the Benaulim constituency. In Benaulim, the AAP led by Captain Venzy Viegas and Hanzel have been fogging important public places as part of their regular initiatives. It was felt that the party could also empower local panchayats as well. This is an example of how AAP wants to make a change at the very grassroots of Goa.
All the panchayats from Benaulim to Carmona-Cavelossim have been equipped with fogging equipment. All fogging machines went through a trial run to ensure they worked perfectly for the panchayats, stated a press release issued by the party.
“We were approached by the residents to help deal with the mosquito menace by fogging. We started our initiative in July and now we have also equipped all the panchayats from Benaulim to Carmona and Cavelossim with the fogging machines," said AAP Benaulim ZP member Hanzel.
"We have been conducting this fogging drive in all the panchayats jurisdiction in Benaulim Constituency for the past one month,” he added.
"Under the AAP we have taken up this initiative to work and prevent malaria and dengue in Benaulim. With our donation of fogging machines to the panchayat bodies we want to empower these local bodies to work better at the panchayat level to improve public health and for the betterment of Benaulim. The AAP is a firm believer in empowering local bodies,” said Captain Venzy.
