PANJIM: Aam Aadmi Party Goa Convenor Rahul Mhambre along with Joint Secretary Sunil Signapurkar and Dr Sandhya Kadam felicitated anganwadi workers in Mapusa for their service during the COVID-19 pandemic, on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Mhambre lauded the anganwadi workers for being able to run the anganwadis despite so many challenges.

He said, "Anganwadi workers' main task is to provide pre-school education. Apart from this, they are responsible for keeping track of immunisation of children. They also reach out to pregnant women and lactating mothers so that they can take benefits of the government schemes which are meant for them.”

"Already overburdened, underpaid, understaffed and under-resourced anganwadi workers, faced several challenges in the wake of the pandemic.

They have done haul of work during COVID times. This includes conducting surveys, making door-to-door visits and spreading awareness," he added.

Mhambre said, "Needless to say, they have contributed not only towards curbing the spread of the infection but also in helping people to access treatment in both urban and rural areas. AAP will incorporate Delhi's anganwadi reforms into the State and this promise will be included in the party’s manifesto.
