MARGAO: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has raised serious concerns and expressed its strong dissatisfaction with the officials responsible for the non-functional lift at Margao’s Osia Complex, which houses various government offices. This situation has resulted in immense difficulties for senior citizens and persons with disabilities (PwDs).
AAP leaders Lincoln Vaz and Patricia Fernandes strongly criticised the current state of affairs, emphasising the hardships faced by senior citizens and PwDs due to the inoperative lift.
Vaz pointed out the irony in the government’s stance, highlighting that while the government claims to be working towards empowering persons with disabilities, it is simultaneously neglecting the challenges faced by this very demographic.
He stressed that senior citizens and PwDs who are unable to use stairs to access government offices are left in a state of hardship.
Vaz accused the officials of being passive observers to the suffering experienced by visitors to the Osia Complex and called upon the government to take immediate action to restore the lift to working order. As an alternative solution, he suggested prioritising the relocation of government offices to the nearby Matanhy Saldanha Administrative Complex in Margao.
