Hails Goa for providing quality education in the country
PANJIM: Union Minister for AYUSH Shripad Naik has applauded Goa for providing one of the finest education systems in the country.
“Education is a medium which determines a person’s future. Goa is becoming one of the States known for its quality education,” he said after laying the foundation stone for the construction of new building for Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education at Porvorim on Sunday.
He stated that the new infrastructure would create a good environment for education and his Ministry has always done its best to help the State especially in the two important sectors Education and Health.
“Along with deriving educational qualifications, the purpose of education should be to bring about a good change in a person,” he added.
Minister for Revenue and IT Rohan Khaunte, also present at the event, emphasised on introducing exclusive education for children with disabilities. He assured to pursue the draft policy with Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar for its immediate implementation. “We are trying to create a policy of inclusive education and it (proposal) is with the CM. It is a very sensitive subject. Departments concerned should come together and come to a conclusive draft policy. I will pursue on priority so we are able to get fruitful results,” he added.
He said that Porvorim, the constituency which he represents, is on its way to becoming a hub for education in Goa. “Porvorim is slowly becoming an education hub,” he said adding, “To help the cause of education in Goa, a strong support system is required in terms of having good infrastructure. Goa is moving towards becoming a knowledge economy.”
The proposed building, which is being constructed by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation at a cost of Rs 27.33 crore, will be located on a plot of 8100 sq. mts, next to the old building. It will have adequate space for different departments like administration, accounts, academic section, certificate cell, SSC and HSSC exam sections, etc. It will also consist of four custody rooms, three strong rooms, two store rooms, and two labs for IT section and a cabin for the deputy secretary of IT department, and a library with a capacity of 50 people, etc. The project also includes parking spaces for 48 two wheelers and 78 four-wheelers.
