VASCO: Goenchea Raponkarancho Ekvott General Secretary Olencio Simoes opined that mass testing in the Zuarinagar containment zones and to have a dedicated COVID Care Centre for Cortalim is of paramount importance.
Social activist from Cansaulim, Olencio Simoes while speaking to the media persons opined that mass testing in the Zuarinagar containment zone area and arrangement for an immediate COVID Care Centre for Cortalim are of paramount importance looking at the present situation in the containment zone.
Simoes stated that without mass testing the containment zone would never be cleared. Therefore, the State administration should take initiative to undertake door to door mass testing.
Furthermore, Simoes said just declaring a containment zone and not monitoring and providing solutions to the problems from the zone will not help and the government should immediately look into the matter.
He also pointed out that the people residing in the containment zone area are daily wage workers and most of them are doing manual work and live hand to mouth. Therefore, if the zone is not cleared, the people would die of hunger instead of COVID infection.
