PANJIM: An altercation between two families at Indiranagar, Chimbel turned tragic and ended in the murder of one of the persons involved.
Murugan alias Ballu Gaunder, who was among those who were involved in the argument was fatally stabbed in the chest, on Wednesday night.
The Old Goa police arrested main accused Lingnath Palyekar alias Palkar in connection with the case. The others involved in the fight –Pratiksha alias Nilima Gaunder, Parshuram Gaunder and Hemant Palkar were also arrested by the police.
All the accused are alleged to have verbally abused and threatened the wife of Deepesh Mane, the complainant using offensive language. The accused individuals reportedly assaulted the complainant's minor son, slapping him and pelting stones, causing head injuries.
Additionally, they targeted the complainant's brother-in-law, Ballu Gaunder. In a fit of rage, Lingnath allegedly stabbed Gaunder in the chest, which led to his death.
Old Goa Police have registered a case against the accused under Sections 302, 324, 504, 506 read with 34 IPC and under Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act.
Old Goa PI Satish V Padwalkar is conducting further investigations.
