Alvara land holders seek a year’s extension to submit proposals
Call for simplifying the procedure to submit proposals
VALPOI: In view of the government's move to regularise Alvara land, Alvara land holders from Sattari taluka at a special meeting held at the Ajoba temple in Keri have sought a year’s extension to submit proposals.
It may be recalled that the government had given time till August 2018 to submit the proposals. Alvara land is a burning issue since Goa's liberation.
The Manohar Parrikar government has decided to regularise Alvara land.
However, most claimants said, “The procedure to submit the proposals is complicated and they fear that they will not be able to comply with the same in the stipulated time limit.
Land owner Ranjit Rane said, “The government's move to regularise Alvara land is good, but we require at least a year to submit the proposals. I request the Government to simplify the procedure to submit the proposals.”
He said many land holders are dead and it is not possible to arrange their death certificates due to which submitting the proposals has become complicated.
Another land holder Krishna Majik urged the Government to take a decision in the current Assembly session to provide a year’s time to submit the proposals and at the same time called for simplifying the procedure.
The meeting decided to submit a memorandum to MLAs namely Pratasingh Rane, Rajesh Patnekar and Praveen Zantye.
