MAPUSA: Residents of Anjuna, including the Sarpanch of Anjuna Caisua Village Panchayat Laxmidas Chimulkar, along with parents of the youths allegedly arrested in Anjuna Tourists Attack case met the North Goa Superintendent of Police Nidhin Walson demanding fair investigation and justice to both the parties.

They said it was the tourist who provoked the locals and instigated to fight. They also showed the CCTV footage captured in the hotel camera, which clearly shows that the local youths were outside the gate while it was the tourists who came out towards them.

“We are not justifying the actions of locals, but we demand justice for both the parties. The local youths have also sustained injuries. It is also questionable why will the locals youths purposely hit the tourist. Police needs to investigate into the same,” Siolim MLA Delilah Lobo, who was also present, said.

Lobo further pointed that the tourist were under the influence of alcohol. However the alcohol test of the tourists was not done.

“Also, local youths had filed a complaint, but till date no FIR is lodged. Other side of the story also has to be taken into account. Some locals even tried to disperse the fight, but even they are booked,” she said.
