PANJIM: The Special Court, Panjim has granted anticipatory bail to woman panch of Anjuna Village Panchayat, facing charges of extortion.
Sheetal Dabholkar is named as an accomplice in FIR registered by the Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) against two other panchas Hanumant Govekar and Surendra Govekar.
In the order pronounced on Monday, the Court has directed her to appear before the investigation team for seven days from Tuesday between 2 pm and 5 pm, not to tamper with evidence and in the event of arrest be released on bail bond of Rs 25,000 and two sureties.
The ACB had last week arrested Hanumant and Surendra for the offence, while only the latter has been granted conditional bail. The case pertains to extortion complaint by businessman Samar Merchant accusing the three of demanding extortion amount from him.
