PANJIM: The Congress on Sunday demanded public apology from Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant for the “complete insensitivity” shown towards the public in providing better administration and infrastructure.

Listing out a series of failures of the government in a press statement issued here, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) President Girish Chodankar said that people are facing hardship due to pothole-ridden roads, frequent power cuts, non-availability of GMC job applications online and delay in restarting mining.

“Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has shown his complete insensitivity towards the people of Goa. The BJP Government headed by him has caused severe hardships, pains and inconvenience to the public, even during the festive season,” Chodankar said.

“I demand that Chief Minister publically apologise to the Goans for the inconvenience caused to them due to corrupt and collapse administration,” he added.

Chodankar said that chief minister has also conveniently remained silent on the gross corruption issues, irregularities and scams which have come to the fore during the monsoon session of Goa Legislative Assembly like LED street lights, beach cleaning, etc.

“The CM has also remained silent on the TCP mafia letter which has been circulated on the social media involving his TCP Minister Chandrakant Kavlekar, who is accused of corruption in land conversion,” he said.

Chodankar said that Dr Sawant has also tried to protect his Sports and Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar on Rs 61 crore Fatorda Stadium repairs Scam, Rs 4.97 crore Goa International Travel Mart (GITM- 2019) Scam, illegal extension given to M/s Drishti Life Saving  Pvt Ltd for beach cleaning work, illegal continuance of lifeguard services by the same company, and scam in participation of road shows and exhibitions.

“What is worst is despite tall promises, the BJP government, has failed to provide relief to the Mining dependents during the festive season and is completely clueless about resumption of mining,” he said.
