PANJIM: The Archdiocesan Board of Education (ABE) celebrated the All Goa Catholic Educational Institution’s Day at St Joseph Vaz Spiritual Renewal Centre, Old Goa, on Thursday.
In his address, Archbishop of Goa and Daman Most Rev Filipe Neri Ferrao said that the teachers are the one who pays close attention to the children.
“A teacher is the one who works tirelessly, with optimism without expecting any fruit in return,” the Archbishop added.
He congratulated those felicitated for their dedicated service.
Addressing the gathering, chief guest Fr Felix Fernandes, provincial of Salesian of Don Bosco, expressed his gratitude and thanked all the teachers for dedicatedly inculcating the moral values and ethics to the students of ABE for the period of more than three decades.
"Syllabus outlined to be thought in ABE gives lasting values and teach ethical ways of life to the young ones," he added.
"The school has been a second home to me. I have always shared my sorrows and joy in the same school. It has been 34 years I've been teaching in this school and I would wish to give more service to this institution wholeheartedly,” said felicity Jacinta Pimenta, teacher of St Pius X High School, Orlim.
Expressing her happiness another felicity Piedade Gracias, a retired teacher of St Anne’s Institute, Agonda said that she is happy and proud to be a teacher.
“Teaching is a profession where we get an honour of becoming a second parent,” she said.
Faculties of the ABE institutes across Goa were felicitated on the occasion for their dedicated service of more than 30 years as a teacher. 105 felicities from South Goa and 101 felicities of North Zone were felicitated by the chief guest and guest of honour at the function.
