MARGAO: In a circular issued by the Archdiocese of Goa and Daman to the Members of Diocesan Bodies and their close collaborates, the Church has recommended the implementation of a set of 15 proposals on ‘the pastoral care of Persons with Disabilities’ (PwDs).
The Archbishop of Goa and Daman, Filipe Neri Cardinal Ferrão, made a mention about how this issue was raised during consultations held at the local level as well as the continental stage. He also referred to the teachings of Pope Francis on this topic too.
“Our Holy Father exhorts us not to exclude anyone but to listen to everyone on this synodal journey. One of the promptings that resounded, time and again, at various platforms was to remain sensitive to the needs and concerns of the people with disabilities,” said the Archbishop. “Caritas-Goa was requested by us to draft some proposals that would help the Christian faithful in our Archdiocese to take concrete measures that are relevant to the lives of our brothers and sisters with disabilities,” the Archbishop added further. He then presented the proposals made by Caritas-Goa (CG) in consultation with some sections of the clergy, religious and lay Faithful for eventual implementation.
