This has reference to the news “LPG price cut by Rs 10 per cylinder” (Herald, April 1 edition) that after raising cooking gas prices by Rs 125 per cylinder last month, State owned oil firms announced a Rs 10 per cylinder cut in LPG rates.
A 14.2 kg LPG cylinder both for subsidised and market price users will cost Rs 809 from April 1 as against Rs 819, currently, the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) said in a statement. When I booked my gas cylinder on April 1, I received a message that cash memo No 648 for Rs 823 is generated for booking no 108. On April 3, I have enquired the rate with the concerned gas agency who told me that the cost is Rs 823, a Rs 10 cut from Rs 833. I did not accept the delivery and subsequently, I booked the cylinder again presuming that the difference maybe because of weight and on April 9.
I accepted the cylinder paying Rs 823, but the cash memo shows the same weight of 14.2kgs for Rs 823. I would request the concerned authorities to issue a proper clarification or update us with regard to the prices of cooking gas.
