Calangute: Following a complaint by the Calangute Constituency Forum (CCF) on Monday that a builder has carried out an illegal construction opposite the Arpora-Nagoa panchayat office, the village panchayat has served a notice to KPD Developers to immediately stop the illegal construction work.

The notice under sections 64 (J) and 82 of the Goa Panchayat Raj Act 1994 has also directed the developers and CCF to remain present at the spot for a site inspection on Thursday, May 2.

The CCF has claimed that the illegal construction in survey no 135/24 of Arpora village of a concrete slab covering the stormwater drain obstructs the natural flow of rainwater, which could lead to flooding during heavy rainfall. “This blockage could result in property damage and endanger the safety of residents in the area,” the CCF has said in a complaint on Monday to the state chief secretary, WRD chief engineer, the administrator of communidades and other authorities.

“The illegal construction of concrete slab on nullah/storm water drain is done by KPD Developers in a communidade property bearing survey no 135/24 of village Arpora opposite the office of village panchayat Arpora-Nagoa without any approval or NOC from the concerned authorities,” the CCF said.

“The construction of any structure over storm water drains without proper authorisation is a clear violation of panchayat laws and regulations and TCP rules and undermines the integrity of planning efforts.
