Askawada women travel more than 25 kms demanding water supply

PORVORIM: Over 50 women from Askawada, Arambol, travelled all the way to Porvorim Water Supply Department and handed over a memorandum to the officials regarding the severe water shortage in their village. The sufferings of the villagers has been intensifying during the scorching month of April. Frustrated by the ongoing shortage, aggrieved women from the village have voiced their discontent, highlighting the dire need for immediate solutions.

Expressing their grievances, the women ve submitted a memorandum to the Water Supply Department, Porvorim, explaining the distressing situation they have to endure daily. Copies of the memorandum have also been submitted to local MLA Jit Arolkar and Sarpanch Prashant Naik, drawing their for urgent need to address the crisis.

The people suspect that the water pressure might be intentionally reduced,  and that the water is being diverted elsewhere. The memorandum cites a consistent pattern of reduced pressure dating back to February, implicating Nandu Asolkar, an employee of the Water Supply Department, for the alleged negligence.

Demanding immediate action, the villagers have urged the Water Supply Department to investigate the matter thoroughly. They emphasize the need for adequate measures to ensure uninterrupted water supply, especially in the coming months. Additionally, they call for safeguards to prevent employees from succumbing to external pressures that may compromise the distribution system.
