Appropriation Bill will let govt dip into  consolidated fund

PORVORIM:The Goa Legislative Assembly on Wednesday passed the Goa Appropriation Bill, 2023, authorising the government to withdraw Rs 1,224 crore from the consolidated fund towards defraying several charges for the financial year 2022-23.

CM Pramod Sawant introduced the Bill, which has allotted Rs 385 crore to the Electricity Department for purchase of power and Rs 169 crore to Goa Medical College and Hospital in the form of revenue expenditure. The Bill has also earmarked Rs 102 crore towards payment of salaries, pension and wages of government employees while another Rs 168 crore is allotted for the implementation of social welfare schemes. 

Sawant said that the State has received additional revenue in form of GST compensation (Rs 119 cr), special grants (Rs 150 cr), GST revenue (Rs 450 cr), Excise (Rs 100 cr).  

The Chief Minister also 

announced that budgetary provision for the construction of Konkani Bhavan would be made in the next State Budget.
