MARGAO: Dr R C Suvarna Fonseca e Antao, who was teaching biology at the Carmel Higher Secondary School, Nuvem, has been awarded the National Award to Teachers for the year 2019 for her innovative teaching methods.
Dr Suvarna, who retired just a month ago, has been using innovative ICT techniques to teach her students which include using technology and delivering classes using power point presentations or laptops and Internet.
She took leave from her teaching career to study Homoepathy and is a qualified Homeopath doctor who functioned as the doctor on campus who was called to attend to any medical problems on the campus. Besides, she is also a trained First Aider being associated with the Indian Red Cross.
