PANJIM: Goa Suraksha Manch (GSM) on Friday termed the current political developments in the state as "Congressification of BJP (CongJP) as majority of the legislators in saffron outfit are imported from Congress.

Addressing media persons, GSM Chief Subhash Velingkar said that BJP in Goa has been converted into Congress Janata Party (CongJP).

“BJP has lost its ideological base. It is no more a party which honours ideology. It has become Congress Janata Party,” he said.

Velingkar, who was one amongst the founder member of BJP in Goa, said the party which opposed Congress ideology has now merged the same ideology, degrading its own.

"BJP was supported by those people who were against Congress ideology. But today, BJP has been swept by Congress ideology totally," he commented.

“Out of total 27 BJP MLAs in, 15 were originally in Congress and then imported inside the party. Two third of BJP legislators are from Congress,” Velingkar said.

He said that the BJP during last two years have engineered four switchovers thereby forcing the MLAs to disrespect mandate of the voters. "This is not the victory of BJP but in fact the party is heading towards end in near future. What BJP is doing to opposition is basically a threat to democracy," Velingkar said.
