PANJIM: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is caught in a dicey situation as it has three aspirants—MLA Atanasio Monserrate, Utpal Parrikar and ex-MLA Sidhart Kuncalienker for Panjim candidature. While election in-charge Devedra Fadnavis hinted at refusing ticket to Utpal, the latter continues to be on a campaigning spree along with his supporters from Panjim BJP Mandal. BJP is trying to balance the situation even as inclination towards Monserrate is evident.
On Friday, Kuncalienker said everyone can claim for party ticket while hinting at acceptance from karyakartas.
“Everybody can pitch (for candidature)… We had (secret) ballot voting among karyakartas (on who they accept as their candidate for Panjim)… Such a step by the party is strengthening the democratic process. Everyone has to aspire to be a leader and that’s how political system works,” he said.
