700 out of 1642 booths covered; CM to visit and interact with people in constituencies
PANJIM: In view of 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the State BJP has intensified the ‘booth vistarak yojna’ (booth expansion initiative) across all 40 constituencies. While it intends to achieve the target by October 31, some constituencies will be revisited later in the year.
The initiative launched on September 26 in a bid to reconnect with booth-level karyakartas and the people, has so far covered 700 out of 1642 booths across the constituencies. The months of November-December have also been kept for visiting some of the places across the State.
“During Amit Shah’s visit to the State, it was suggested that the Chief Minister should visit all the constituencies along with the party MLA from respective areas,” BJP Goa Unit Chief Vinay Tendulkar said after chairing the State Executive meeting of the party in Panjim on Wednesday.
He said that the local unit has already started implementing this suggestion as part of which Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar recently visited and spent one day in Sanquelim constituency.
“In November and December, the Chief Minister will visit seven to eight constituencies and interact with the workers,” Tendulkar said.
The vistarak yojna will also ensure that BJP expands its base in all the constituencies, he added.
General Secretary Sadanand Tanawade said the party has already taken up the initiative of ‘booth vistar yojana’ under which 22 constituencies have been taken up in phase-1.
“We have completed 80 percent of the total constituencies under phase-1 and it will be complete by October 13-14. At the same time, we have also started covering nine other constituencies after which the remaining constituencies will be taken up. We intend to cover all the constituencies by October 31,” he said.
The party’s State Executive adopted resolutions which were passed during recently held National Executive meeting in New Delhi. Tanawade said that within a fortnight the district committees will adopt these resolutions which would be further passed in the block level meetings of the party.
