PANJIM: GSM has thrown up a challenge to BJP to advertising in the media that the terminal building of the Captain of Ports (CoP) will not house offices of the off-shore vessels.

GSM demanded that BJP publish in the newspapers whitepaper detailing about off-shore casinos in River Mandovi, before May 19. GSM also hit out at the BJP for misleading Goans over the removal of casinos while also stating that it was the Francisco Sardinha-led BJP government for granting the first permission to an off-shore in Goa, and not the Congress.

“We all know which government allowed entry of first off-shore casino in Goa. The BJP should not fool the people of Panjim. If the ruling party is so clean on this issue, the CM should publish a whitepaper in the newspapers giving details about which government granted permission to which casinos, how many renewals have been allowed till date, etc before May 19,” he demanded.

GSM leader Kiran Naik  claimed BJP will continue to allow casino operations in Goa even as one of BJP leaders has huge contract of AC maintenance in these premises. “Issue a ‘fatwa’ that casinos will not operate in Goa any further,” said Naik.

On the recent assurances on mining by the CM, GSM reiterated that BJP should refrain from misguiding the people with fake pre-election promises.

Naik also claimed that BJP Goa Chief Vinay Tendulkar and ex-Speaker  Rajendra Arlekar has almost endorsed that Panjim voters should bring victory to GSM’s candidate Subhash Velingkar and not BJP’s candidate. “He (Tendulkar) has appealed the people to vote for a ‘clean character’ and Arlekar has conceded that Velingkar had a major contribution to strengthen BJP’s base in Goa. This indirectly asking Goans to vote for Velingkar,” he added.
