PANJIM: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State president Sadanand Shet Tanavade on Tuesday said that the party will field its candidates for all 40 seats in the Goa Assembly elections.

When asked whether the party will extend its support to Minister Felipe Nery Rodrigues and Nuvem MLA Wilfred ‘Babashan’ D’Sa, who have already decided to quit BJP and contest as independent candidates, Tanavade said, “We will field candidates against Felipe Neri Rodrigues in Velim and Wilfred D'Sa in Nuvem because party has decided to contest all seats.”

Tanavade said that the BJP has also constituted Mandal in all 40 constituencies and the question of extending support to others does not arise.

Tanavade dismissed the reports of Speaker Rajesh Patnekar deciding not to re-contest the elections and two others declining to contest on BJP ticket. “Nobody whom we have given offers have opted out from the poll fray,” he said.

Tanavade, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant and others will leave for Delhi today to attend the BJP’s Central Election Committee to finalise candidates.
