VASCO: Irked over the stinking water supply in Baina, the locals on Monday confronted PWD officers demanding that they carry out an inspection in the areas and come out with a solution at the earliest.

The locals claimed that since many days they have been receiving contaminated water and are forced to depend on the tankers. The locals complained of foul smell and raising doubts whether the water was getting mixed up with the sewage.

Veena, a local complained that for eight days they were not receiving water and were dependent on the tankers. “But on Saturday when we received water it was stinking,” she claimed.

Another local Gayasoddin Syed said, “We have been receiving contaminated water from PWD pipeline. I feel that with the PWD taking up sewage work in our area, there is every possibility of sewage water entering the water supply pipeline.”

Later, PWD officials said they are in the process of rectifying the same. They inspected the site along with Baina locals. Meanwhile, water will be supplied to the households via the tankers till the problem is sorted out, informed a PWD official.
