PANJIM: Beaches in the State will be closed for swimming and water sports in the monsoon months of June to September. On account of the monsoon and weather conditions which are expected to see heavy rain and high waves, red flags have been posted across all beaches which debar beachgoers from wading into the sea.

Water sports activities have also been suspended on Goa’s beaches. Advisory has been issued asking visitors to avoid rocky areas, cliffs and hills along the shoreline.

During monsoon, these stretches are considered perilous due to their slippery nature. Visitors have been advised not to venture onto the beach. Even wading into the waters is not advisable, the advisory stated.
