MARGAO: The TMC decided to give the Velim ticket to Benjamin Silva who joined the party barely a few days ago and not to Antonio Clovis Da Costa.

Costa had endeared himself the people of Velim as a clean, articulate educated candidate and the delay in announcing his candidature had led to an outpouring of sympathy and support for the young advocate.

MLA Benjamin Silva had joined the TMC after he was denied a ticket by the Congress party. However Clovis da Costa will remain with the party and said that he would not revolt and go against the party.

Trinamool Congress (TMC) announced its second list of candidates.

The major highlights of the second list was the selection of Anthony Menezes in Calangute over other aspirants ex-MLA Agnelo Fernandes and Joseph Sequeira and also the selection of ex-MLA Benjamim Silva in Velim over Antonio Clovis Da Costa.

ZP member Kavita Kandolkar, the wife of TMC Goa’s Aldona candidate Kiran Kandolkar, has been chosen as TMC’s candidate for Tivim constituency.

The remaining four candidates are Leao F P Dias for Siolim, Anthony Albert Peixoto for Curtorim, Mahesh Amonkar for Margao and Mahadev Dessai for Canacona.
