BICHOLIM: The Bicholim Municipal Council (BMC) on Wednesday decided to reopen the vegetable and fruit market from Saturday onwards.

However, the council also decided not to allow the weekly bazaar.

The special meeting was attended by the medical officials and the police. The medical officer informed the council on the several steps taken by the Health Department to curtail and identify the COVID cases in the taluka.

The Councillors put forth their grievances before the medical team and urged them to be vigilant and test the people visiting the hospital. Later, the council decided to open the vegetable and fruit market from Saturday onwards.

“Today this special meeting was held to discuss the precautions to be taken in the town. People should follow all the rules and minimise their trips to the market. We will sanitise the entire vegetable market tomorrow and from Saturday we will restart the market,” BMC chairman Satish Gaonkar said.
