PANJIM: Bollywood superstar Nana Patekar is amongst the 62 beneficiaries, whose applications for change of zone sought under Section 16B of the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Act, were cleared by the TCP Board on Friday. An area measuring 24,948 sq mtrs for change in zone from orchard to settlement has been approved by the board.
As per the information available with Herald, the land in Corjuem, Bardez was initially marked as orchard in the 2011 Regional Plan. The area includes an eco-sensitive portion which has been kept untouched. The Board in its meeting held on Friday approved 62 applications of zone change. Keeping in mind the expected code of conduct for the by-elections, the Board has also extended the deadline for submitting the application for zone change from January 26 to February 20. The Board approved land conversions of around 3 lakh from partly settlement, orchard to settlement belonging to Goa Cricket Association (GCA) at Maulinguem in Bicholim and Cotarli, Sanguem together. Tourism Minister Manohar Azgaonkar’s wife Megha and BJP MLA Pandurang Madkaikar’s brother Dhaku are also in the list of beneficiaries. While Azgaonkar has got approval for land to be converted from orchard to settlement in Dhargalim, Pernem, Madkaikar’s is in Candola, Ponda. Goa Institute of Public Administration and Legal Development has also got approval for conversion of agriculture land into institutional zone in Old Goa. Further, former Congress Minister Aleixo Sequeira is a beneficiary. His Tonia Estates and Resort Pvt Ltd at Colva had applied for land conversion and same has been approved.
