Broken septic tank inside South Goa police headquarters repaired after O Heraldo report

MARGAO: The broken septic tank situated inside the South Goa Police Headquarters, has been repaired by the concerned authorities after the issue was highlighted by O Heraldo.

The overflowing sewage from the broken septic tank posed a health hazard for people living in the vicinity.

Reacting to this development, parents and even students expressed happiness and thanked O Heraldo for highlighting the issue. 

It may be recalled that leaking sewage on the footpaths from a broken and overflowing septic tank of South Goa Police Headquarters was causing severe inconvenience to the local residents. Irate parents, local school authorities and even staff at the South Goa Police Headquarters called upon the authorities concerned to immediately put an end to the stinking nuisance, before it turned into a health hazard.

This issue was highlighted by O Heraldo, following which repair work of the septic tank was carried out on Saturday. The overflowing of sewage has stopped. Renuka Desai, a parent, thanked this newspaper for highlighting this issue. 

“The concerned authorities had failed to stop the overflowing septic tank located inside the police headquarters, despite several requests from the parents and general public. But, after the issue was highlighted by O Heraldo, everything changed immediately,” she said. 

Anita Fernandes, another parent, appealed to the concerned authorities to take serious note of such situations as it affects the children. 

“Such type of incidents should not be repeated. The Health department and the Goa State Pollution Control Board need to be alert and initiate strict action on those involved in causing nuisance,” she demanded.
