MARGAO:  The post mortem examination of the two youngsters found dead in their apartment at Aquem on Wednesday afternoon is learnt to have revealed that they died due to starvation. However,  mystery shrouds their death given the fact that their apartment was bolted from inside with a sofa placed against the main door.

Sources at Margao Police revealed that though the death was due to malnutrition, the viscera is preserved for at the South Goa District Hospital for further investigation.

A senior police officer disclosed that they are still clueless as to why the two starved themselves to death as no suicide note was found by the police even as a detailed post mortem report is awaited.

Mohammad Zuber Khan aged 29 and his brother Afan Khan aged 27 were found dead in their apartment while their mother Ruksana Khan, aged 54 was found in a semi conscious condition and is currently undergoing treatment at the South Goa Dist Hospital

Police have not recorded her statement as yet as she on saline and will record it when the doctor grants permission to do so.

In a new development, police disclosed that Ruksana is likely to be shifted to the Institute of Psychiatry & Human Behaviour as recommended by the doctors.

Police are also in the process of checking whether Ruksana had earlier undergone psychiatric treatment.

Police informed that no statement from any family member has been recorded as yet and added that the bodies were handed over to the family members after the post mortem examination.

Police will record statement of Nazir Khan, father of the dead boys, who is the informant in this case.

Investigations have revealed that the father who is a businessman, shifted to a separate house at Khareband since January 1, 2024 apparently due to arguments with his wife and tense relationship between them.
