Building toilets and enhancing infra: Ponda panchayats’ top priorities

Ponda: The Marcaim Sarpanch Deepa Naik has said her ruling group will give priority to Swachh Bharat by providing toilets to villagers who are lacking such facilities.

Ponda: The Marcaim Sarpanch Deepa Naik has said her ruling group will give priority to Swachh Bharat by providing toilets to villagers who are lacking such facilities. The panchayat will also provide an ambulance service to villagers. The old panchayat building will be demolished and a hall and mini market will be constructed in its place. They will also undertake work of the panchayat ground and complete its work.

Borim Sarpanch Bhavna Naik said the panchayat would give priority to solving garbage issues and encouraging the youth in higher education . She said the panchayat would complete the work of the sports ground at Kalmamal Borim. While focussing on overall development the panchayat will give priority in improving the health of locals by awareness camps. All the issues and problems raised by the villagers would be solved on a priority basis said the Sarpanch.

Curti Khandepar Panchayat Sarpanch Rukma Khandeparkar said  she would fight to solve the garbage problem existing in the panchayat and also focus on eradicating corruption. All problems and grievances of citizens would be solved on a priority basis. She also said the traffic congestion due to truck parking at Curti will be solved.

Bethora Sarpanch Sushant Gaonkar said the panchayat would be people friendly where in people’s work and issues, applications would be sorted  out immediately. It will be an unbiased development and all wards will be developed equally. He further said he would write to the management of  industries in Bethora  Industrial Estate to give preference to local youths in their industries so as to eradicate the unemployment problem. It will give scope to the skills of the youth in sports and encourage education.

Wadi Talavlim Sarpanch Dilesh Gaonkar said priority would be for a Swatch Bharat and garbage free panchayat. He would improve road conditions, widen the roads, ensure uninterrupted electricity and water supply in addition to cleaning the gutters and nullah. 

Volvoi Deputy Sarpanch Digambar Tari said water shortage was a major problem faced by Volvoi locals. he said " Many areas in our panchayat  has  not benefitted with water supply provided from OPA water Treatment Plant works at Khandepar and many villagers have no water connections. Volvoi needs to connect with the OPA water Supply pipeline". He further said  he would give preference for a plastic free panchayat and would provide toilets for villagers.

Bhoma Adcolna Sarpanch Sunil Zalmi said his first goal would be to eradicate unemployment. He said with Banastarim Market being renovated it would be helpful since the locals were currently facing hardship in buying and selling goods in this congested market.  He said the new Panchayat Ghar would be constructed in addition to a new building.

 for the primary school in the panchayat area. All facilities including a changing room will be provided at the Panchayat ground and encourage to youths in sports activities.

Tiverem Orgao Sarpanch Sanyoth Khadapkar said because of  the elections and the code of conduct many works were pending. There is an urgent need in the monsoon  for the gutter and nullah cleaning work which was halted, he said , the preference would be he said to the cleaning work of the village. The preference would be to complete the Bus Stand. 

Kavlem Panchayat Sarpanch Rajesh Kavlekar said Garbage was a problem that needed to be tackled on a priority basis. He said "We will focus more on health awareness and more camps will be organised and already today one camp has been held. We will focus on providing toilet to each and every house and inspection will be conducted for it in the village. Since Kavlem being tourist destination priority will always remain to provide toilets to tourists who are facing hardships. In absence of the NOC from concerned parties we are facing difficulties in constructing toilets for tourists at Kavlem". He said agriculture needed to be encouraged as some fields were kept fallow by farmers. He said some LED lamps installed in the tourist village were not functioning in ward number 4 and 5.  He said he would request the government to tackle LED maintenance and repair it on a on a priority basis.
