CEO directs State to submit details of development work

Directs all the heads of the departments to remove or hide the photographs of political functionaries from the official website of the department

PANJIM: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has directed State government to submit details of all the developmental works that are ongoing as well as fresh works that have not been started. 

CEO in a letter to the Chief Secretary has directed all the heads of the departments to remove or hide the photographs of political functionaries from the official website of the department.

"Further, it has also been directed to provide the list of Development/ construction related activities directly to the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer," CEO said. 

The CEO has sought list of works which have already been started on ground and also of fresh works which have not started.

The election model code of conduct had come into force from January 8 across State. 

The Government has already constituted a three-member screening committee to scrutinize proposals of the departments that needs clearance from election authority, for implementation during the code period. 

With code in force, all the new developmental works have come to halt. No new tenders or work orders are permitted to be issued without election authority consent. 

Goa will go for polls on February 14.
