PANJIM: Three days after he was inducted in the State cabinet and sworn-in as a Minister, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant allocated portfolios to Aleixo Sequeira on Wednesday.
While Sequeira has been allocated Environment, Captain of Ports (CoP), Law and Judiciary and Legislative Affairs, the Chief Minister has kept the portfolio of the Public and Works Department (PWD) with him.
Except Captain of Ports, all other portfolios were held by former Minister Nilesh Cabral.
“Now the Chief Minister has given me portfolios of Environment, Captain of Ports, Law and Judiciary and Legislative Affairs. I will try my best to live up to his expectations and also the expectations of Goans. I will do whatever I can which is in my power,” Sequeira said.
Sequeira was inducted in the Cabinet on Sunday after Curchorem MLA Nilesh Cabral resigned as Cabinet Minister.
A section of press had recently reported that there was an alleged scam in recruitment of 350 engineers in the PWD. However, Cabral denied the allegations terming them baseless and also said that he would take action against the media house.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant too gave a clean chit to Cabral saying there was no scam and the allegations had no connections with Cabral's resignation from the cabinet.
