CM asks Handicrafts Corporation to explore means to be financially stable

PANJIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has asked the Goa Handicrafts Rural and Small Scale Industries Development Corporation (GHRSSIDC) to explore measures to make it financially stable and self sufficient. 

In a meeting with the Corporation Chairman Pravin Arlekar and other concerned officials of the parent department, CM Sawant also discussed various issues pertaining to the growth of the GHRSIDC while he also reviewed various schemes and activities. The meeting also decided to conduct training programs for local artisans for operating Charakha and Pottery wheels that would generate employment in rural areas. 

“Initiate various programs to upgrade coir based commercial activities in coordination with Handicraft Department,” the CM directed. A discussion was also held on setting up centre of Lijjat Papad in the State so as to providing employment opportunities for local women.
