PORVORIM: Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Tuesday assured the House to fast-track recruitments and promotions in Goa police and Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB).

Sawant said that Goa police has issued advertisements for filling up 1233 posts while 734 vacancies will be filled in IRB. He said that the directions have been issued to expedite the recruitment process, which will be done on a merit basis.

Replying to the calling attention motion, the Chief Minister admitted that though the promotions in the police department are done on regular basis, the promotions in IRBs are held up for over the last 15 years.

As such, Sawant assured the House that all the pending promotions in the police department and IRBs from police sub-inspector (PSI) to police inspector (PI), police inspector (PI) to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) will be fast-tracked. “Everywhere required the Recruitment Rules (RR) will be changed,” he said.

The issue was raised by the Leader of Opposition Digambar Kamat who sought to know whether time-bound recruitments is being carried out in the Police force and whether the same is carried out in a transparent and merit manner.
