MARGAO: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant visited Colva on Sunday evening and interacted with local residents and the fishermen community from the village to address their grievances.
During the visit, the CM stated that the official Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) would be finalized soon, which he believes would resolve various issues faced by those locals residing on the coastal belt. Sawant also promised to address other concerns raised by traditional fishermen, such as providing space for storing their fishing nets and equipment on the properties owned by the Tourism department on the beach. It may be recalled that in the recent past, there were concerns about the potential displacement of fishermen from such areas on the beach, which the fishermen had claimed would adversely impact their livelihood.
