PANJIM: Stating that the government stability is required for the future development of Goa, Union Minister and Senior BJP leader Nitin Gadkari said Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has a difficult task ahead to keep the flock of alliance partners together considering the recent trend of changing political affiliations.

Addressing a public meeting in support of BJP candidate Sidharth Kuncalienker, Gadkari said the results of this by-election is important to ensure stability of this government and development of the State.

“The journey for Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant is not going to be easy while he has to keep everyone together. It is a challenge to keep everyone together as there is a trend to change the party affiliations,” the union minister said.

“Politicians move from one party to another as if they are walking into the garden,” he commented referring to the frequent defections witnessed in the past. “The current government is working on the vision of Parrikar as they are trained under him. If there is any instability then it is going to adversely affect the development of the State,’’ Gadkari said.

“That is why this is not just a by-election in one constituency. The results of this election have impact on the stability of the government,” he said adding that Goa can develop only if there is stability.

“We should stand firmly behind Sawant –led governent to ensure that it completes the entire tenure. That would be a real homage to Manohar Parrikar,” he said.

Gadkari said that Kuncalienker who had voluntarily resigned as MLA to make way for Parrikar to be elected in the House in 2017 is “the successor of the former chief minister.”
