PANJIM: Facing criticism over the claim of 100 per cent water connections in #hargharjal scheme, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant put the blame on the bureaucracy for failing to fulfil the basic needs of the common man in the State.

He also lamented that while outsiders get their work done easily, Goans have to toil for every work to be done.

Sawant also took the heads of departments to task in his speech at the Vigilance Awareness Week programme held at the Secretariat.

“The harassment of the common man has to stop. Even after 60 years post Independence Goans are still deprived of basic necessities of toilet, electricity and water,” Sawant said. He said that this is due to ineffective implementation of the government schemes by the bureaucracy.

Sawant also pointed out that 70 to 80 websites of the 150-odd government departments are not working. “I had to tell Chief Secretary to inform the departments to update their websites. This is the responsibility of heads of department and not CS and CM,” Sawant asserted.

He also slammed government officials for dereliction in duties. “Some govt staffers are not even coming to office and HoDs don’t even bother to ask them. I can name the HoDs if need be,” he said.

The Chief Minister also lauded the Veterinary Department for handholding 300 persons to help them take up poultry farming.
