MARGAO: Former Nuvem MLA Mickky Pacheco has expressed displeasure that his report on drug trade in Goa has been completely ignored by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar.

As chairman of the house committee over drugs, Mickky had tabled an investigation report on the drug trade in Goa.

He alleged that by instituting new committees, Parrikar was trying to shield his own MLAs and ministers who are involved in drug trade. Mickky has warned that if the chief minister doesn’t act soon, then, he would be cursed by the victims of the trade.

Mickky has demanded a judicial inquiry into the politician-police-drug lord nexus, which he alleged, is operating in Goa.

Expressing surprise over the arrests of ganja pedlars, Mickky said that there are more serious drugs being traded in Goa which need to be given attention to and stopped at source.

“In my report, I have mentioned how and from where the serious drugs like cocaine and other come to Goa and where they are concentrated in. That needs to be seen,” he said.

“There was a death due to drug overdose some 100 meters away from the area of Michael Lobo,” alleged Mickky.

“As MLAs, we should have all the statistics and the information of people staying around. We can’t be blaming police and ignore the threats in our neighbourhood,” Mickky said, adding that Michael has all the knowledge of drug trade in his constituency.

When asked whether he is accusing Michael of being involved in drug trade in his constituency, Mickky said, “Why did Michael not sign the report? Michael’s village Parra has the highest number of drug dealers.”

“The final report was 25 page long and when I submitted it Vishnu Wagh and Michael Lobo did not sign. The chief minister never bothered to ask them why they did not sign,” Mickky pointed out.

Appealing to Parrikar, Mickky said, “If you really feel that drug (trade) has to stop, then, there has to be a judicial inquiry into the matter. The reports of committees and new committees won’t do any good and would only mock the people.”

Urging the coalition partners, Mickky said, “If they are gentlemen, then, put a judicial inquiry to stop the politicians living on the drugs trades.”
