PANJIM: Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar will continue to undergo treatment for pancreatitis at Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai. The latest medical bulletin confirms that he would not be able to attend the assembly session that begins from Monday.

“On the advice of his doctors, CM will be continuing with the treatment for pancreas in Mumbai. CM’s treatment is in the right direction and he is responding to the same. However, he needs sufficient time to recover and be focused on the treatment. Expert doctors are taking good care of him. We all pray for his speedy recovery,” MP Narendra Sawaikar said in a media statement issued on Sunday evening.

Parrikar has been admitted since Thursday, a day after he underwent treatment for food poisoning at Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim. The Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) later confirmed that he was suffering from mild pancreatitis.

In the bulletin released on Saturday, CMO said that Parrikar is being treated for his inflamed pancreas.

“Chief Minister is under monitoring for his inflamed pancreas at Lilavati Hospital and has not been advised any surgery. He will not be attending the Assembly session which is scheduled to begin from February 19,” CMO had said in a statement released on Saturday.
