CM turning into a ‘compulsive liar’: AAP

PANJIM: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Wednesday accused Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant of turning into a “compulsive liar” without realising that people cannot be fooled all the time

AAP was referring to Sawant’s latest statement that former Chief Minister late Manohar Parrikar had never objected to double tracking.

Sawant had asserted that Parrikar never objected to double tracking of the railway track and had only raised the concerns of some people whose houses would be affected.

AAP Goa convener Rahul Mhambre claimed that there were video recordings of Parrikar clearly stating that Goa did not require double tracking which he said was promoted by Mormugao Port Trust for its own benefit.

“I am not supposed to support what MPT wants,” Parrikar had said when he was the chief minister and had clearly stated that the government of Goa would not permit double tracking of the South Western Railway track, Mhambre said quoting the former chief minister.

“While announcing that he had refused permission for the double tracking, Manohar Parrikar had said it would not increase any industrial activity in Goa but only burden the State with cost of land acquisition,” the AAP leader said.

“In fact Manohar had gone to state that the MPT had committed a fraud in allotting two berths to private parties and the double tracking was being done for these companies and had even assured the House that the government would stop coal at MPT itself if required. However, despite these records being in public domain, Dr Pramod Sawant is now resorting to infamous Goebbels truth believing that by telling a lie many times the lie will sound to be the truth,” Mhambre said.

Meanwhile, Aam Aadmi Party’s “Veez Andolan” that was launched on December 1, has evoked very good response with large number of people including women attending the four meetings held at Benaulim, Sancoale, Carambolim and Saligao.

The party in a press release said that the meetings were interactive and the crowd participated in the discussion listing out their problems and issues and lamenting that no political party till date has really worked for the common people.

Most people, who came with their electricity bills, said they wanted uninterrupted power supply at a cheap rate like Delhi. A lady at Sancoale questioned why they should be burdened with huge bills when they do not get uninterrupted power and the voltage fluctuates very often which causes damage to electrical appliances, it said.

“Usually it’s the women, who handle the accounts of a home, hence they understand the impact these hefty bills on their lives,” said Rahul Mhambre of AAP.
