SANGUEM: The remark made by CM Pramod Sawant against Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar claiming that he was busy in ‘land deals’ have evoked mixed response from the people in Sanguem.

While those who opposed the IIT project at Sanguem claimed Gaonkar should have not raised the issue of IIT all over again when the same was in the process of being set at Guleli Sattari, others termed the remarks made by Sawant to be highly inappropriate and uncalled for.

Gaonkar went a step ahead further claiming that there is hardly any opposition for the project in Sanguem without even consulting the constituents in Sanguem constituency which is highly inappropriate.

In reply to the proposed offer given by Gaonkar, Chief Minister Sawant castigated Gaonkar for being busy in land deals and that the IIT project had to move to Sattari as Gaonkar failed to provide land for the project.

Sawant said that the government was ready to buy the property but Gaonkar was not ready to transfer the land as apparently his 'settings' had failed.

Supporters of Gaonkar and other constituents from Sanguem claimed the remarks made by Sawant to be highly deplorable and needs to be withdrawn with due apology.

In the meantime, Sanguem MLA Prasad Gaonkar in a short video clipping urged the people not to get dejected but to continue to support him. He also said that he will give appropriate answer to the Chief Minister Pramod Sawant in a press conference today.
