PANJIM: Goa reported 2,814 new cases on Tuesday with the positivity rate dropping slightly to 42.95 per cent. With this, the cumulative figure of confirmed cases reported in Goa since the beginning of the pandemic has crossed the 1 lakh mark. The total now stands at 1,00,902 cases. 

The number of COVID deaths in a day has again crossed 50, with 52 deaths reported on Tuesday.

While 1,870 people recovered in the last 24 hours, the recovery rate stands at 72.15 per cent.

On the same day 2,426 people were placed under home isolation, while there were 277 new hospitalised patients. In addition, 6,552 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

The total number of active cases has reached 26,731. The Urban Health Centre (UHC) Margao continues to lead the list of active cases with 2,262 cases.

UHC Panjim (1,695), UHC Mapusa (1,575), Primary Health Centre (PHC) Candolim (1,580), PHC Porvorim (1,293), PHC Cansaulim (1,090), PHC Cortalim (1,337) and PHC Ponda (1,574) are the centres reporting above 1,000 cases. 

Of the 52 deaths reported, 28 were at Goa Medical College (GMC), 14 at South Goa District Hospital (SGDH), 2 at a private hospital in South Goa, 2 at Balli Primary Health Centre (PHC), 2 at North Goa District Hospital, 1 at Chicalim Sub-District Hospital, 1 at Curchorem Community Health Centre (CHC), 1 at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Loutolim and 1 at ESI COVID Hospital Margao.

The youngest to succumb to COVID was a 36-year-old woman from Dona Paula who had no co-morbid conditions. 

A 38-year-man from Velim, a 38-year-old woman from Verna and another 38-year-man from an undisclosed location were the others below the age of 40 who passed away.
