MARGAO: Goa lost its third practicing doctor on Saturday due to COVID-19 infection. Dr Mario Godinho breathed his last at the COVID hospital in Margao. He was 65.

Dr Godinho was admitted to the Victor Hospital for breathlessness. He died during the early hours on Saturday.

A thorough professional Dr Godinho never stopped his practice and treated patients who came to his clinic situated near the Holy Spirit Church, Margao. His family said he never wanted to stop practicing even in during these unprecedented times as for him his patients always came first.

Dr Godinho was laid to rest at the Holy Spirit cemetary.

Jose Maria Miranda, a citizen from Margao said, "This was shocking news early in the morning as we thought that he would recover. It was more painful as no one could pay their respects to the departed soul". He said he will be missed by the people and his patients.

Dr Shekhar Salkar wrote, "We lost our third doctor to COVID. Dr Mario Godinho died today following the death of Dr Suresh Amonkar and Dr Purshottum Karekar. Sad to see our frontline warriors losing their lives while saving others".
