PANJIM: On Friday, 20 new COVID-19 patients were added to Goa’s active cases tally, with more cases being reported from Ambelim in Chinchinim and Indiranagar in Chimbel. These cases are not linked to the Mangor Hill containment zone in Vasco and hence have been declared as isolated cases. 

Nine patients were declared recovered on Friday. With this, the State’s active cases now stand at 607, while recovered patients are 118.

As per the bulletin issued by Directorate of Health Services (DHS), of 3,269 samples tested for COVID-19, 20 were positive while 2,015 were negative. The reports of 1,234 samples are awaited. 

While no new cases have been reported in Mangor Hill, all 20 cases detected on Friday are isolated cases having no link to the containment zone. These cases have been reported in Margao and Betim, Ambelim, Indiranagar, Sada, Baina and Curtorim. One person has a travel history. Indiranagar and Ambelim, which have four and six cases respectively, are the new isolated COVID pockets.

Sources revealed that with extensive contact tracing and testing undertaken in the areas, more cases have come to light.

In all 306 interstate domestic passengers are under home quarantine, while 431 travellers are in facility quarantine. Also, 12 patients are in isolation wards, including eight who were admitted on Friday.

While symptomatic patients have been admitted at the COVID hospital in Margao, asymptomatic patients are at the COVID care centre Shiroda. 

There are 1018 people quarantined at various residencies and hotels. Since January 1, till date, State has total 725 confirmed COVID cases.
