CRZ violation in Morjim, Mandrem by project proponents: GCZMA

PANJIM: The expert members of Goa Coastal Zone Management Authority (GCZMA) have come across a series of violations by the project proponents while undertaking erection of temporary structures in Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) areas in Morjim and Mandrem coastal area. 

The expert members have observed that the structures, located within 200 metres of high tide line (HTL), have violated various conditions lay down while granting permissions by the GCZMA. 

During its recent meeting, the expert members led by Sujeet Kumar Dongre, submitted the report of violations noticed by him and the field surveyor during the ground truthing of sand Dunes and HTL undertaken for the purpose of Draft Coastal Zone Management Plan (CZMP) in August at Morjim and Mandrem. 

The expert members came across various violations of permissions granted by the GCZMA for erection of temporary structures within 200 mts HTL in survey No-174,181,182 of Morjim and 216 of Mandrem villages. 

The matter was discussed at length by the Authority and it was decided that expert members of the Authority will inspect the sites and submit the factual report so as to take further recourse in the matter of violations done.
