Cabinet approves additional  benefits to  ‘co-terminus’ staff

PANJIM: The Manohar Parrikar-led Cabinet has resolved to grant additional benefits to the ‘co-terminus’ staff appointed in the offices of the chief minister, deputy chief minister, ministers, Leader of Opposition and the Advocate General on par with other government employees.
The benefits are subject to their continuous service with effect from April 1, 2001 or from the original date of appointment whichever is later. So also, these staff cannot claim regularisation and seniority in any government departments/offices.
The decision on February 18 following a meeting chaired by the chief minister, stated, “Annual increment and monetary benefits shall be granted to all the co-terminus staff appointed in the office of CM, DyCM, ministers, Leader of Opposition, AG and with others of the rank and status by computing the number of years of continuous service rendered by them in their respective post and by notionally fixing their pay with effect from April 1, 2001 or from the original date of appointment whichever is later.”
In terms of their payment, the Cabinet has decided that arrears of pay on account of the implementation of pay commission recommendation from time to time may also be granted to the staff. Whereas the pay of co-terminus peons in these offices shall be regulated in the equivalent pay scales under VI pay commission orders for those who are non-matriculate and under VII pay commission for staff who are Class X passed or possessing ITI qualifications.
The medical reimbursement, casual leave/restricted holidays/special holiday and earned leave at 2.5 days per month are also granted as per the latest decision. “Encashment of leave salary for maximum 90 days at the end of the tenure of the minister/functionary shall be granted. All the benefits shall be subject to conditions that the co-terminus staff shall submit an undertaking stating that they shall not claim for regularisation and seniority in any government department/offices,” the decision further states.
